Upgrading from Win 10 on my desktop Drive C: , make an Image file and copied back to a new SSD.

As many of you know by now, I upgraded from Win7 to Win8 to 8.1 and to Windows 10. I had been using my Acer 4-in-1 Desktop system 1TB GPT drive for about 3 years heavy use. During the 3 years it always appeared to be working well.

After doing the Windows 10 upgrade and used it about two weeks and all appeared to be fine.. The new Windows 10 1TB hhd HD was activated by Microsoft in about 3 weeks. I purchased a 500GB Samsung SSD , and it arrived. I had another 1TB Toshiba drive that was about 3 years old. I used the Free MiniTool 9.1 to check the partitions of the 1tb Toshiba Drive and found that it had partition problems and also several bad sectors....so later .... emails to/from others and started receiving many comments from others with comments about how to proceed with the transfer of data.

I downloaded the Trial version of Macrium Reflect and used it to make an image of my Windows 10, and my 1TB Toshiba drive kept giving me different errors. I found out later that the Toshiba drive had some problems, and I stopped using it for making the image backup. I will check it later.

I have another 4TB WD "My Book" Backup HHD and later used that drive to make a Macrium Image file from my drive C, and that worked. I then added the SSD drive to my Acer desktop as Drive C:, used the Macrium Bootable Rescue DVD to boot into the system then copied the Trial Macrium Reflect IMAGE file back to my new SSD drive.
It booted up the first time, and is working well now.

I would like to thank each and everyone for your time, help and comments during the 3 weeks that I was trying to get this transfer/upgrade image copied over to my new SSD drive. I would like to send a big thanks to "Word Man" as he has been a real system saver in getting the data transfer completed.

Please believe me that I am so sorry it took so long to get data transferred and that I posted too many graphic images on this system. Sometimes we just never know how long the process will take to finish.
All be safe.... God Bless each of you. Thanks...... Cliff M.

Even though i had nothing to do with it i'm glad you got it taken care of. What a nightmare computers can be sometimes (all of the time for me) but anyway .

No need to apologize for anything , like you said , it could take a few decades to get some stuff completed.

It's always best to just call it the way it is , both you and i know very well that i was completely useless and had not contributed anything even remotely helpful to your eventual success story here .

I am very comfortable being a useless bystander Cliff , i just stay on the sidelines and repeatedly scratch my head at the ability of other people , think i was born to observe but never participate to be honest.
