    Mike and all.

I think it is a bit strange that I have never seen or had a problem for about 3 years with the 1TB drive C: that is in my Acer 4-in-1 when I was using Win7/8/8.1 and upgrade to Win 10 until I started moving to my new SSD drive.

I know all the users patience on Ten-Forums has overdone itself long before this point.... but thanks for all the help comments ...and comments from others.

Maybe someday soon I will figure out a way to get this problem fixed.. and this THREAD will go away....
    best 2 all. Cliff M.

With bad sectors on that drive, you may have just been lucky enough that any unreadable files at those sectors are not significant to your operating system and haven't caused symptoms that you could see. It may only mean you lose some photos or other data that doesn't impact your operation - once we get what may be a failing hard drive out of your system and get the new SSD installed and operating, you can worry about what data is lost on the old one and see if it needs or can be recovered.

I'm looking at your email of this morning and the attachments to that email and will respond in detail by email.

We need to do some more tests but understand this: If we can't get chkdsk to repair/reallocate sectors to a point where it can be imaged error free, we can resort to advanced options in Macrium to force it to complete imaging while ignoring bad sectors. If this forced image is restored to your new SSD, we'll need to run a "chkdsk /b" to have it re-evaluate sectors marked bad on the new drive and restore them to service. Have a look again at this Macrium Knowledge Base write-up: http://knowledgebase.macrium.com/dis...th+bad+sectors Just read it for future reference but wait for next steps in the email I'll send you soon.

... I am waiting to see what we will do next and reading more to learn about what is probably a bad sector problem.

Many times over the last 3 years - I have had much more data on this desktop c: drive. Then lately I finally started cleaning off much of it before starting the upgrade to Win 10. I do not like the suspense of it either.
    All be safe Cliff M.

Just a short quick note here to all, but thanks to all.

My new 500GB SSD is in and working now, and I am using it.

I will later (2-3 days) put a longer message together - and thanking all for all you have done.

For now--- just a huge thanks to those who have helped me so much... I could not have done this operation all because of needing all the new programs, learning about Macrium, MiniTool 9.1 partition changes and the ins and outs about it.,

I believe all is probably ok here now.,. "Word Man" has been helping me most everyday via email ...because of all the partitions changes, chkdsk checking and other etc.... "Word Man" (Kenn) and I are still friends, but a big thanks to all.
I really owe some/many other users.... I have learned so much during the last 4 weeks.

I am checking on my new SSD now. all be safe and thanks. Cliff M.

Just a quick reminder: do a "chkdsk /b c:" to have those bad sectors from your old C: drive re-evaluated and they should come out clean and be returned to use for you on your new drive. Enjoy!

P.S. Since we never had to force Macrium to include bad sectors, it could be the Macrium image did NOT carry the (marked off as) bad sectors to the SSD but it won't hurt to run this anyways to be sure.

    Mike and all:

I thanks, and it was really a rush in finally seeing that my desktop was clean enough to be able to make a good image file., Sometimes the uphill climb is a long distance.

It did, and after that.. all is good. be safe and thanks.. Cliff M.

Well, I meant run chkdsk /b c: on your new SSD in place. The old one you can hook up through the SATA to USB adapter you got, no need to put it back in the Acer.

EDIT: And thanks for the rep!
