Trying to boot from USB drive

I have an older Compaq Presario CQ5000 (Windows 10 21H10) desktop that I can't seem to boot from the USB. I am trying to install Chrome OS Flex from a drive but I cant get it to show the USB drive option in setup. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you

Did you put Chrome OS Flex on the USB stick, or did it come that way?
If you put it on, did you use a program like RUFUS to do so?

Did you try using the boot menu (Esc, or F9, at boot), to access the USB stick?

I setup my own USB stick using the Chromebook recovery utility. I tried Esc and F9 at boot but there is no option to boot from USB. The computer itself has 6 USB slots and originally came with Windows 7 Home Premium. I have attached a pic of the options.

Image has to be .jpg or .png

Save the image to your desktop, then click on this...

Trying to boot from USB drive-0000-screenshot.jpg

Then click on Browse, then choose the image and click Open, then Upload File

Or... you can use an image hosting site like... Imgur: The magic of the Internet

Just drag and drop your image on the front page of the site.
Then, hover your cursor at top right of image, and in the drop down choose: Get Share Links
Then, on the next drop down choose: BBCode (forums)
Copy and paste that link in here.

Maybe you need to go into the BIOS and take a pic of your boot options in there.
You need to press F10 at boot to enter the BIOS

You should see something called maybe: Boot Override
Whatever they are called you should see a list of items to boot from.

    @lenberman

The only other thing I can think is that when you "made" the USB stick, it used the wrong file system.

It probably used the ext4 file system, which Windows can't "see" to boot from.
Can you "see" the USB stick in File Explorer?

The file systems that Windows can or can't use has no affect on what the computer BIOS can or can't.
