Windows 11 upgrade questions - I want to stay on Win10

I want to stay on Win10 because I read that Win11's taskbar at the bottom cannot be moved to the side. I only want my taskbar to be on the side to have maximum amount of vertical screen space. I don't like hidden taskbars. I want to always see my taskbar at a glance.

    Questions:

I support 3 other friends with their PC computers. Since I won't upgrade to Win11, I don't want any of them to upgrade to Win11 either.

    1. If any of us receive the notification from Microsoft to upgrade to Win11, will the upgrade to Win11 happen automatically at some point?
    2. If so, is there a way to permanently stop Win11 upgrade notifications?

    Thanks.

You mean you didn't find in Windows 11's Taskbar Settings [in Personalization] about changing to Left instead of Center?

    1. Probably but may not happen until End of Support announced by Microsoft of Oct. 14, 2025, but who knows for certain.
    2. Yes, stay disconnected from the Internet for the permanent part, otherwise see some of the Tutorials about delaying it, etc.

I wouldn't reduce my PC security. Rather do what zbook posted.

"I only want my taskbar to be on the side to have maximum amount of vertical screen space"

With that statement, I think mck wants the entire taskbar on the left side of the screen.

Windows 11 geniuses have decided that's not an option to have taskbar anywhere other than bottom ........ deal breaker for me.

I can do the Taskbar alignment at will, not reboot needed.
