It is Finished!
I don't mean that in the Biblical sense. But, in the Windows 10 Install sense.
Two days ago, (Monday, 12/06/21) I checked my favorite software download site, and found a Sept '21 version of Windows 10/Enterprise/64. It's one version that I don't have, so I downloaded the ISO and burned it to a new ONN 32 GB Flash Drive. The burn seemed to go well. But when I tried to install it to a spare HD, the "copying files" routine got up to about 50 % and logged an error, and stopped. Repeated tries resulted in the same error.
Then my PC died! Arggg!
After some troubleshooting, I found that the CMOS battery was down below 3.0vdc.
A new CMOS battery solved the problem and I was soon back up and running.
(my motherboard seems to be very sensitive to cmos battery voltage)
I decided to just try the whole thing over again, using a new Flash Drive and a known good Seagate 2TB HD.
The download took only about 30 minutes, using the "Internet Download Manager".
The burn of the ISO to a tried and true SanDisk flash Drive, went off without a hitch, using "Rufus".
The boot up of my system, using the SanDisk flash drive worked perfectly too.
The install went as planned, even the conflict getting past the log-in without a MS account. With that little
problem conquered, the remainder of the install went off without a hitch.
Then I installed the "Classic Shell", Firefox, and a set of tweaks, to improve performance.
Installing a few more Programs, that I normally use, finished the Windows 10 Install.
I'm using that new install of Windows 10 right now, as I work this forum. It works GREAT!
With each new version of Windows 10 that I install, it looks less like the old Windows 10, with a desktop screen full of little boxes, that so many people hated, me included, and more like Windows 7, and runs so easy.
I find that at least with this version, if I absolutely HAD to run Win-10, I could, with very few problems.
I'm sort of amazed, that so many people have so many problems installing Windows 10. It's really so simple!
(unless, they get a bad download, or try to use a bad [onn] flash drive.)
Cheers Mates, and Happy Holidays
