Windows 10 in-place upgrade keeps failing

    HI

I am on Windows10 Home 21H1. I want to do an in-place upgrade from the .iso file
When I click on MOUNT, SETUP from the .iso file, the installation starts, but when it reaches about 90%, it stops and I get a message : “ installation failed”. I tried twice, after disabling the AV and disconnecting the external USB drives. What can be wrong?

    Thanks

Please post a screenshot of your partitions on all disks using a 3rd party partition manager such as Minitool partition wizard.

How much free space do you have on C: ? 30Gb min required e.g.

Get setupdiag.exe (Google, free from MS) - run that and post the short report on your logs.

From where did you get the iso file? Which build is it?

PC specs please? Yours just say Win 7.
    Tutorials available.

Just use windows update, it`s a very teeny tiny update, it will take seconds.

In place upgrade does not work

    Hello Dalchina
    Thanks

Here is the answer to your questions
1.Free space on C:\ ? First of all, as per Mini-tool partition lay-out, the partition i’m using for recovery on HH 2 is not C:\ but D:\ , with 725 GB free space.
(Part C:\ of HDD 2 ( Disk 2) contains an older Windows of 7 I keep as a BUP because my wife is on Windows 7, just in case she needs a recovery.
    2. I got the .ISO file by downloading the tool from the MS Page and then following the instructions in the MiniTool site. At one point I have to click on MOUNT.
    3. The SetupDiag .exe results are here below, along with the PC Specs and the Mini-tool drives lay-out
    4. I am not too sure what I should do going to “ My Computers” as you suggested.Windows 10 in-place upgrade keeps failing-minitool-drives-tenforum.pngWindows 10 in-place upgrade keeps failing-pc-specs-tenforum.pngSetupDiagResults.log

Regarding the attachments, please disregard the one with the wires, It is an older attachment. I couldn't find a way to delete/exclude it from my reply

    Thanks as usual

    Ittiandro

Looking at your partitions, there is no free space on your disk. Yours is basic MBR. I don't know if the lack of space will prevent Windows creating a recovery partition in this instance.

Have you changed the state of any Windows services?
