The incompatibility popup arises very fast in the upgrade process: Checking you PC gives the reason(s). Up to there, only the $WINDOWS.~BT folder is created and a few ones in the Software Distribution folder.

For this reason, the latest restore point is still available.

You could try the post #3 method or boot in the Windows 10 installer and click repair at bottom left. Troubleshoot and select restore point. Won't take long.

We don't decide if our machine fits Windows 11, MS does.

NB: Our computer meets all requirements and is good to go for 22001.xxx, but we get an Unsupported Processor message for all Dev ISO's when upgrading. A fatal error stops a clean install in terms of seconds. Before finding a real solution and after many attempts, upgrading did not screw up our machine.

I think Microsoft have done a huge injustice here. With the min spec requirements this discounts millions of computers that would actually have more than enough required resources to run the new OS.

I understand the Gen requirement's in terms of CPU. But to discount many modern 4 core i7 CPUs on machines running 16Gb is ridiculous.

    Forced to reimage

After trying everything to recover after the windows 11 installer failed due to hardware specs and killed my current win 10 install. I was forced to take a manual backup of my data and reimage my machine.

Not happy I had to go to this extent after all I did was attempt the upgrade and told I did not meet min spec.
The silly thing indicated I had a hardware change. Which of course I did not. I did not even get to installing the OS. Only up to the first part when it was inspecting my device for compatibility. Not only did I not get win 11. It broke my win 10.

    Not happy.

    Understandable.

And because bad things happen that's why members here endlessly recommend the routine and regular use of disk imaging- e..g Macrium Reflect (free).

Trust you noted my post #2, and have now started to do that after this painful lesson.

That`s odd, it should have told you straight away that your PC did not meet the minimum requirements and halted the install.
