    mHz,

I followed your instructions to the letter except there is no way to disable Secure Boot and when I booted from the USB stick the only options were "UEFI, Sandisk Partition 1 (250GB)" - I have no idea what that is - and "Enter Setup". I chose the latter which booted from the USB stick. I completed the install and with everything detached I was able to boot to the UEFI Windows drive.

However, when I reattached all the drives, rebooted and selected the UEFI drive to boot, I was taken to the legacy Windows, not the new UEFI install. Same problem as before. I guess the conclusion must be that there's another boot store somewhere that gets control when I select the UEFI drive? Is it time to examine the boot stores again? I await your suggestions.

    Thorne

I disconnect all the drives except for the legacy and EFI boot drives and rebooted. I chose the EFI drive to boot and I was booted right to the legacy install. I didn't get a boot menu. Just went right to legacy login.

Now I'm going to disconnect it and try again.

I detached all the drives and reattached them 1 by 1. Same issue - EFI drive wouldn't boot. I got an error message to "Select a proper boot partition." Then I disabled again all the BIOS options you had me disable (I had reenabled them). And I found out that it is enabling CSM that is preventing the EFI drive from booting. I am posting from the EFI drive right now. So... now I have to investigate why CSM gets in the way of an EFI drive boot.

Now I will replace the legacy boot drive and see if I can get a boot menu and select either OS.

Now I cannot boot the legacy drive. Only the EFI drive is displayed in boot options.

So I turned CSM back on but changed the "Boot from Storage Device" option from "UEFI only" to "Ignore" and now I have both boot drives displayed. I have to see if I can boot either. When I selected the "Boot Menu" option, I did not get a boot menu. I got taken to the EFI login screen.

Congratulations, you have now a M.2 NVMe booting as UEFI.
CSM is to boot into Legacy. It must be set to disable.
You can attach drive 0 (M.2) with the Win 10 Legacy-MBR.
The other SATA drives, keep them disconnected for now. They are data drives and there is no reason to attach them now.

For the next step, (replace the C: partition) I know how to do it, but I don't know how to explain. I may have to do some experiments on my computer. Bree, can you help us here?

For now, please post another Disk manager Image with the two drives attached (M.2 1&2)

OK now I cannot boot into EFI again. Going to fully disable CSM again and see if that fixes everything.

OK, I cannot disable CSM because then I cannot boot into legacy. Think I've got a Catch 22 here. I need CSM to boot into legacy, but then I can't boot into EFI. And I can't enable CSM because then I can't boot into EFI. Gotta try some things.

What drive do you want to boot Legacy?

Well it seems this is it - I have to disable CSM if I want to boot the EFI drive, but then I cannot boot the legacy drive. That's where I am now - in EFI mode. Going to reconnect all drives and see what I get.

I reattached all the drives and all I got was an EFI boot menu in BIOS. But when I select it, it goes right back into BIOS. Nothing will boot. So then I disconnected the SSD drive and let the system boot without going into BIOS and I got to the EFI partition. Going to try to reconnect the SSD drive and let the system boot.

OK so disconnected the SSD drive again and let the system boot and I get into the EFI partition. So what is wrong with that SSD drive that it won't let me boot anything when connected?

If you don't follow my instructions, I won't assist you anymore.
On post #12 I was very specific:
You can attach drive 0 (M.2) with the Win 10 Legacy-MBR.
The other SATA drives, keep them disconnected for now. They are data drives and there is no reason to attach them now.

Where is the Disk Manager image I've asked from drives 0 and 2?

I have to have that SSD drive as it contains 4 different partitions to which I need access.

I'm sorry. I didn't see your post #12. Going there now.

It is almost 11:00 pm and I'm going to sleep.
If you want to use the computer, set CSM to enable and boot from drive 0.
Maybe NavyLCDR can add a solution on how to replace the C: with the one in the Legacy drive 0
