Chances are really good you have nothing to do but wait a little.

First off, you can upgrade right now if you want to.

    Things to do before upgrade...

    1. Make a full OS image backup of Windows 10
    2. Get Windows 10 as clean and tight as possible before the upgrade.

From an elevated command prompt, run these two commands, one at a time...

    sfc /scannow

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    3. Get all the Windows 10 updates

When completely updated, run this command from an elevated command prompt...

    Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

    4. Remove, get rid of, uninstall, anything you don't need or want.

IF you want to upgrade right now....

Here is the short version of the In-place upgrade tutorial...

    DISABLE non-Microsoft:
    a) antivirus software
    b) firewall software
    c) drive encryption software

Make a full OS backup with a program like Macrium Reflect (free)
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free

Go here and get the Windows 11 ISO (use the 3rd option), and save the ISO to your desktop.

Right click the ISO image and choose: MOUNT
Open File Explorer and you will see a new drive letter. It will look like a DVD optical drive.
Double click the new drive letter to open it.
Find setup.exe and double click it to start the in-place upgrade.

Choose the Keep personal files and apps option.

After it's all done... to UNmount the ISO image, right click the new drive letter and choose: EJECT.

The ONLY thing you will lose is some of your personalizations. Your programs and data will be intact.

This message means that, as with all roll outs of previous Windows 10 upgrades, Microsoft are taking a slow and measured approach to the roll out. Not every machine that's capable will see it offered immediately. In addition, MS may put temporary blocks on offering it to particular machines with known hardware or software issues, these blocks are lifted once a fix for the issues has been developed.

    Microsoft said:
We will begin to offer the upgrade to eligible new devices first. Then, as with previous rollouts, we will study device health data and other signals to determine the pace at which Windows 11 is offered via Windows Update.
Over time, we will make Windows 11 available to existing (in-market) devices based on hardware eligibility, reliability metrics and other factors that impact the upgrade experience. If you have a Windows 10 PC that’s eligible for the upgrade, Windows Update will let you know via the Windows Update Settings page when it’s available. We expect all eligible Windows 10 devices to be offered the upgrade to Windows 11 by mid-2022.

It is safest to wait until it is offered Windows Update, it may well appear in the next week or so. If you are impatient, then you could use the Installation Assistant or the Media Creation Tool to upgrade now. If you choose to do so, it is a wise precaution to make a system image of your Windows 10 with something like Macrium Reflect Free before doing so.

Other ways to install Windows 11 (not recommended)

Use the Installation Assistant to upgrade

We recommend you wait until your device has been offered the upgrade to Windows 11 before you use the Installation Assistant. When you're ready, you can find it on the Windows 11 software download page.

    Create Windows 11 installation media

On the Windows 11 software download page, select Create tool now and follow the instructions to install Windows 11.

Just be prepared, it could be up to a year before you get it through Windows Update - and Windows Update has historically been the most unreliable method of upgrading.

Maybe not a whole year, but could be months.

This should be in a signature somewhere.
