What do you need the laptop for? It is a large machine, and quite heavy looking at the specs, do you move it around? Could you use it as more of a desktop machine? Assuming you're not a heavy gamer, that will handle normal use with ease.

Update, on my Dell laptop the battery drained the same, due to the firmware. On boot, I did get an instant white screen warning me the charger was not recognised, with click to continue. This meant it wasn't using mains power. The battery drained so much, it was down to 4%, I managed to download the firmware updater but it didn't update as the battery was so low. I switched the laptop off, and left it connected. It did charge, but super slow. I left it for a few hours, then it was charged enough to run the firmware updater. I hope that isn't the case for you, but from what you have said I thought I would let you know what happened to me.

Thanks Bree . I am trying to decide whether to keep this laptop as my personal one. It’s a very good spec but quite large.
Its 15" screen will easier to read than a smaller one, depends on how good your eyesight is these days. I like to use a 15" over a 14" one, 13" is my limit and 12" is just a bit too small for comfort. (I have examples of all).

Plus you do get a full sized keyboard (and I believe that typing comfort is an important factor for you). And it has an optical drive, a rare feature these days. I always try to have at least one machine available with an optical drive.

TidySean is right, they make great "Tabletops" But if you start opening and closing the lid 20 times a day... It wont cut it... If you're always on the run and use your laptop on "Sites". Check for a used Thinkpad they weight less with two batteries, and the screen hinges wont break off the case in 2 years.

    Hello @Hazel123,

Sorry you are having problems and sorry to hear about your Mother.

I have a suggestion that MIGHT help if you created a System Image BEFORE you started. Restore the System Image and then Export the Drivers . . .

    > How to Backup and Restore Device Drivers in Windows 10

I usually do this as a matter of course in case there are ANY Drivers that are OLD or hard to get hold of.

I know this probably does NOT help in your current circumstances, but I thought that I would post it for future informational purposes.
Thanks. My Mother died about two years ago so time has passed thankfully. Only just dealing with house contents now my Father in a home.

If you want to consider replacing the battery, go to
Dell Laptop Parts | Dell Parts | Dell Laptop Repair | Dell Repair

Enter your service tag a little down on the left. Click on search.

The next page will show Dell Inspiron 5567.

In the Batteries & Power section, click on Battery. You will see
    New Dell Inspiron 15 (5567) OEM Original Inspiron 15 (5565) / 15 (7573) 2-in-1 42Wh 3-cell Laptop Battery - WDX0R
--- It is an Exact OEM Replacement. Unfortunately, it costs $129.95 new. It is Eligible for FREE Economy Shipping.
--- In addition, it’s only a 3-cell battery. I’m not in favor of only a 3-cell battery, but it is what it is.

Review Product Warranty, Returns, and Exchanges:
Product Warranty, Exchanges, & Return Policy | Parts-People.com

There are battery replacement companies that most likely will charge less but if you buy one from any one of them, ensure it works as soon as you get it since they are usually returnable within a certain time period such as 30 days in order to get your money back.
--- I did that once and got ALL of money back.
--- One of my friends didn’t return a battery he ordered that didn’t work because “he didn’t have time to return it”.

Thanks. Where did you find that link? I went onto the dell support page and there was a download for OS recovery tool (which didn’t work). But no mention of an actual factory image. I’ll check it out.

Size. 14” is just right for me. Not bothered about weight as only used at home. But this size is a bit big when on my lap - too close to the screen to see both sides! Thinking on that. It’s not that heavy actually and fairly slim.

You see - on my phone, I get that page you linked. But if I open the link on computer I just get “download os recovery tool” (which fails something to do with APU).

I don't exactly recall if I used google or what. Seems that following the instructions they have will eventually get you a Windows 10 install USB for your PC - let us know

Think I’ll just stick with the clean install. No missing drivers and everything seems to be working fine. Charged battery up and it doesn’t seem to be going down too quickly.

Tempted to try W11 on it now. It has secure boot and TPM2 - but only 6th/7th gen processor. I’m sure it will run it though. Not sure if it’ll run the Radeon graphics though. Which I don’t really need.
