    Wont update

I have been working on this off and on for months.
I have googled help and have found several fixes which none seem to help.
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    sfc /scannow
    Windows 10 update Assistant
    Windows Update Troubleshooter
    Clear Previous Windows update cache
Update Drivers before Windows 10 20H2
Sites, Windows 101 tricks and zoomtech
and finally on this site “How to Reset Windows Update in Windows 10
    Published by Shawn Brink “
it never freezes, it downloads, restarts into safe mode goes to around 28% and reverts back to the old version.

Hello sawblade54 and welcome to TF ,
Have you tried Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade where you should get the option to keep your personal files and apps?

Follow the instructions carefully and uninstall any 3rd party antivirus, VPN, or firewall - and remove any unnecessary hardware before starting the process.

We always suggest making a backup first: Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

Follow the instructions in this link. It is a you tube vid. the first solution via the command prompt fixed two of my units (one running 64 bit Home Win10, the other 64bit Pro Win10) that just decided to quit updating, kept trying, kept reverting. tried many solutions to no avail, including DSIM commands and sfc /scannow many, many times, deleting contents of Software distribution folder in safe mode, etc.. the first solution in the vid is the ticket via command prompt as administrator. very EZ to do, I had my doubts, works like a charm, just be prepared for a blitzkrig of reboots and some time to get it finally right, you must be patient, some of the update sequences appear stalled, but they aren't, PATIENCE.......... The first solution looks rough for my level, the second one didn't work... I tried a reset without losing files and it wouldn't do that either, reverted back.

I'm not sure what you're referring to as there are multiple posts before your reply.

    @sawblade54

Download the SetupDiag Tool from there and run it:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...rade/setupdiag

The Tool creates a Logs.zip Package.

Please upload the Logs.zip Package on wetransfer.com and share the link here please.

Instructions for the wetransfer website you can find there:

Okay, thanks, I understand. I would follow Tekkie Boy's posts for now, as he might find the root cause of why you can't update and have a simpler solution.

    Thanks for the files.
Download the Intel® CSME Version Detection Tool and unzip it, and then open the folder "DiscoveryTool.GUI" and run it as administrator:

    https://downloadmirror.intel.com/286...ol_windows.zip

Please take a screenshot of the output of the tool if your system is shown as vulnerable.

Download this Driver Updates and install it:

    https://dl.dell.com/FOLDER07151781M/...019_A04_01.EXE

    https://dl.dell.com/FOLDER07219444M/...0.2157_A08.EXE

    https://dl.dell.com/FOLDER07416190M/...118_A45_04.EXE

Uninstall MalwareBytes and use there Support Tool too:

    https://support.malwarebytes.com/hc/...s-Support-Tool

    Uninstall temporary this programs:

    1. Silicon Labs Software, App: Windows Driver Package - Silicon Labs Software (DSI_SiUSBXp_3_1) USB (02/06/2007 3.1), Version: 02/06/2007 3.1
    2. FSPro Labs App: My Lockbox 3.2.1, Version: 3.2.1
    3. Rivet Networks, App: SmartByte Drivers and Services, Version: 3.1.940
    4. New Softwares.net, App: Folder Lock
    5. Adobe Systems Incorporated, App: Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0, Version: 8.0

    And then:

    Download the Media Creation Tool:

    https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209

Use the Media Creation Tool to create an installation medium.

    Preferably a USB stick.

    Perform a clean boot:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...a-a97a1807f3dd

Pull out all external devices except the mouse and keyboard that are not needed for the update.

For example: printers, scanners, hardware dongles, programming interfaces, USB hubs, USB wifi/ network adapters, USB dongles, etc.

Then cut the internet connection for the update!

After that plug in the USB stick created with the Media Creation Tool.

Open the Windows Explorer and start the setup.exe on the USB Stick to start the Update again.

If the update fails again, please create a new Logs.zip package and upload it again to wetransfer.com.
