MSCONFIG Boot Tab Empty/Unable to update windows.

Hello, I'm having trouble with my boot drive/updating my PC. While there are no real issues with my PC, it seems like my EFI partition is corrupted. I would like to do some work on my drivers, but I don't want to move forward with that project until I fix my windows drive. The standard BCD commands don't work (either access denied or some other error). Additionally, I am unable to select the partition as active. The windows update assistant stops around 75% and states "We’re Having Trouble Determining If Your PC Can Run Windows 10." When updating the standard route of restarting and updating, it gets to 98% before stating "Failure Configuring Windows Updates, Reverting Changes." The windows update troubleshooter does not find any issues/does not fix anything. Finally, the recovery boot repair is unable to repair anything (though I can't remember the error message).

I found the above forum post and it seems like it would fix my problem; I am just having trouble adapting the instructions to my computer. I'm trying to do this process without needing to clean install windows or delete any files or programs on my computer as it is currently running fine.

what does the bcdedit command display?

it seems like my EFI partition is corrupted.

You dont appear to have a separate esp partition.

Never seen a GPT boot able drive without a EFI partition.

You can create one and then put the boot manager on it.
Managing partitions is always risky, so I strongly recommend you do a drive image backup before proceeding.
Open a CMD as administrator and type:

shrink desired=100
create part EFI
format fs=fat32 quick
assign letter=t
exit
bcdboot C:\Windows /s T: /f UEFI
diskpart
select vol t
remove letter=t
exit
exit

I apologize for just getting back. I had a lot of trouble running all of the tools that @zbook described; the tuneup_plus_log.bat did not work at all. I'm still not sure why. That being said, I followed the instructions from @Megahertz and it worked flawlessly! Everything is now running smooth as can be. The msconfig boot drive is there, the updates completed successfully, and I even think my computer might be running a tad better. Thank you all for your help!

What was the path of the folder containing Tuneup_plus_log.bat?
What happened when you double-clicked on the .bat file?

Good to know it's working as it should.

The path was in my files drive in a download folder. It wasn't in a zip file or anything; did I need to run it while it was located on my C: drive? When I double clicked it, it would ask to run as administrator. After selecting yes, an empty cmd window would open and almost immediately close with no files being made in any location. I even tried to "find" them by running the commands shown in the help threads to pull the .txt from the temp files to no avail. I'm unsure why it didn't work but it seems like, at least for the update issue, everything is working as it should!

In the containing folder, hover the cursor over the "Tuneup_plus_log.bat" file, hold down the "Shift" key and right-click on the said file simultaneously. You will see the following menu:



Click on "Copy as path" to copy the file path. Paste it into your reply. The following file path is an example at my end:

"D:\Folder\Tuneup_plus_log.bat"
