If you have a key associated with your Microsoft account, activation is no longer a problem.

    Hi Kat,
You should be able to clean install Windows 10 with the Windows 11 OEM license key that the PC comes with - so should not have to buy another license or disc as you can make your own Windows 10 Install USB/CD using Windows 10 MCT or other sources.

    Download Windows 10 ISO File

Then later you should be able to upgrade to W11 when you want to
    Hello Steve108,

My question is similar to the OP but in my case I would not have another win 10 license. Can I still downgrade from an OEM win 11 box to win 10 with that ISO file, for example? (Your answer to krollo was unclear to me, sorry).

    thank you,

Yes. Windows 10 and 11 use the same product keys and digital licenses. They are interchangeable.

I wonder if you can activate Windows 10 with a Windows 11 key - I do not have a spare W11 key to try it though. On all previous versions of Windows, you could not downgrade (unless you had downgrade rights) i.e. a W8 key would not activate W7 etc.

I guess in worst case you would install W11, then install W10 as the digital licences seem to be totally interchangeable.

You are making an assumption that a Windows 11 device is fully compatible with Windows 10. At the moment, that is 99.9% certain, but eventually new devices will come out that do not have W10 drivers (in same way many W10 pcs do not have W7 or W8 drivers). However, I think that is still several years away.
