    Upgrading to 11

I have a HP laptop which has two M.2 drives installed on it, one for the operating system the other one holds all my photography work stuff, so if i upgrade to windows 11 will i loose anything like photos installed programes and personlised settings?

The upgrade will keep your files, but you should always backup just in case anything goes wrong.

NO, but, to be on the safe side, it would be good practice to create a System Image BEFORE proceeding, just in case. We can provide further information if needed.

Please read the information provided above for in depth instructions and method.

    I hope this helps.

As shown in the given link of post #2, as long as you see this during the last phase of the upgrade process:

Install Windows 11 Pro or Home √
    Keep personnel files √

You are set to go and Windows creates a restore point to go back to the previous install during 10 days. If you don't see KEEP personal files, cancel the install. Intel 8000 series meets the 11 requirements.

    Good luck,

    Hi,
Only safe way is to remove the drive with your personal files.
Then just image your os drive.

Can I ask why you want to upgrade to Win 11, a OS that is only a beta release and that hasn't been officially released?
Doesn't Win 10 has enough bugs and problems? Are you looking for more?

    Hi,
11 might have fewer bugs actually so far for myself
After inplace upgrade sfc /verifyonly is clean didn't even have to clean install to get it lol

No telling if sfc works but 10 always finds corrupt files.

    - not a restore point. Reverting a major upgrade relies on Windows.old. All previous System Restore points are deleted - as they should be.

Adding to other comments on your post, a clean install of the official Win 11 release has cleared up a few issues I was having with Win 10 (maybe a clean install of that would have produced the same results). There have been no operational issues experienced running Win 11 for at least the last months (on BETA), only minor cosmetic things. Overall, it has been an improvement for me.
