There are two possible interpretations of what you are seeing, lacking a screenshot or other evidence.

1. The event viewer file - the software- is unavailable or damaged
2. The event viewer logs are damaged.

Event Viewer is missing in Windows 10

eventvwr.exe is the program that launches the Event Viewer. It is available under the folder at C:\Windows\System32.

I'm sticking with 10 too, I'm a desktop user. It's like a LazyBoy recliner to me.
If I ever get 11 it'll be on a separate laptop, but that'll be quite a while from now.

I have a hunch many more files or apps are missing since I went back to W10. First, (1) event viewer. Apparently it has to be re-installed. Second, (2) Powershell. No clue what's wrong. It just does not pop out when icon is clicked. Thanks God cmd prompt is still working

SFC scan showed corrupt files and were all corrected. Repeat SFC scan shows no integrity violation. But trying to find event viewer, I now get this notice on clicking MANAGE

1. check your disk (e.g. Hard Disk Sentinel)
2. if ok run
chkdsk c: /scan
3. If ok, run an in-place upgrade repair install

The command I gave you above gives you the result on the screen not as you suggest. Run from an admin command prompt.

Perform the disk check first. I hope you appreciate these are two completely different things.

You haven't understood what I said and clearly haven't tried it.

If you
a. Open an admin command prompt
b. type
chkdsk c: /scan
then
c. EVERYTHING IS ON THE SCREEN INCLUDING THE RESULT.

No restart
No need to use the event viewer.


Try it.

But also get a copy of Hard Disk Sentinel and run that. A portable version is available.
