    Can't boot on CD

On a newish dell laptop that came with win10 on it, and trying to boot to a CD, when I tap, tap f12 there are only two options on usb, and no mention of CD. I go to f2 and see that the Boot section is all locked. Suggestions please.

Your newish laptop is probably set to boot only from UEFI sources. The CD you are trying to boot from may not be UEFI compatible and you may need to turn off Secure Boot, and enable CSM (or maybe called legacy BIOS) mode.

If you bought the PC it`s yours to unlock. You need to go into the Bios and disable Secure boot.

What are you trying to boot to that is on a CD ?

    Some Linux distro ?
