Hi,
Just ask your buddy
Always good to see if they want to increase ssd storage for a couple bucks more.
Kind of bringing up the old here, but all the info I need is on this thread. I just want to ask, or let you all know I am ready to send the laptop in the mail today, to actually, a different gal up in Washington State. I reset it to factory settings lastnight, overnight basically. This a.m. it was all done. I am just a little nervous thinking some of my things could still come up on it, but, when she adds her Microsoft account, or creates one for herself, and connects to her Wifi etc. Nothing should "sync" or load from my MS account etc. correct??
She probably won't even use the same browser as I did, Firefox, and I'm guessing she'll just go with Edge, whatever is on Windows 10 version.
I had thought about the new hard-drive, but I'd just put that new SSD in. I had no files to worry about. I'm just thinking without my Microsoft Account no one could find much of anything anyway. Thanks for any feedback, and just want to say, it's sort of like losing an old friend, LOL!!
OEM Factory Recover isn't a good solution as it will format the drive and install Windows as it came from factory and it can be completely out dated.
The best solution is a Reset Windows 10 (without keeping data and programs). It will reinstall the current version like a clean install, BUT as already mentioned, the data is erased and with some un delete software it can be recovered.
After the reset, run a software (CCleaner, Minitool etc) to wipe unused drive clusters so data can't be recovered.
Win10 syncs only with the Microsoft Account (MSA) that's currently signed in to it, not previous sign-ins.Nothing should "sync" or load from my MS account etc. correct??
I have 2 MSAs and recently changed to the other. When it synced, it had absolutely nothing to do with the first one. :)
Ok, that's what I thought, and this lady is not tech-savvy, and I don't believe I am in any danger of anyone even "thinking" of pulling up my old data. The Hard-drive is only a few, months old so I don't want to pull it, and force her to spend money she doesn't have to spend on that. Plus the fact when I reset the a PC/Laptop, I have to log back into my MS Account, reconnect to my wifi, and then go download CCleaner to clean off data, and then what, reset the laptop again? I'm confused by that process ;( The two things that would concern me would be passwords to my Amazon Store Card, and yes, my US bank account, and I don't want to go to them and change my account numbers etc. but maybe I should.
One thing for sure, I won't buy one too many devices again that I use for business stuff, and if I do, I'll take out the hard-drive and beat it to death with a sledge-hammer
PS and doesn't lovely Google have all my stuff anyway??
Log into Google and find out:
Google Account
And Microsoft:

Everybody is always worried about what these companies have on them by "spying". Well you can look and erase the data.
