Thank you for the clarification, I was saying if something goes wrong, then you can use the troubleshoot.

Just use the Media Creation tool here, to create Win 10 instalation media (USB)...

That's pretty much all you need. Windows will automatically activate after a clean install.
As said before, boot an installation medium, such as the one created by the MCT, and just install on your brand new disk. If the disk is the only hardware change, it will most likely be considered a minor hw change hence activation should be automatic.
That being said, I've read that in the case of more substantial hardware changes, the license should better be linked to your MS account, prior to reinstallation of course. I'm not speaking from experience though...
Thank you for all your replies!
I had to focus on some other tasks unrelated to re-installing Windows 10, but I want to install Windows 10 today.
I just want to know one thing:
Is it possible for me to check that my Windows 7 serial key will work after I wipe the SSD on the laptop and then install Windows 10 from scratch? I'm worried that I'll wipe the SSD on the laptop and then when I enter the Windows 7 serial key it will say it's invalid and I'll be unable to install Windows 10 again...
The serial key is located underneath the laptop.
Thank you for your replies!
Are you sure about the Windows product key? I purchased Microsoft Office for this laptop several years ago and when I erased it a few years ago I wasn't able to find my Microsoft Office key
Is there any way I can test that I'll be able to use the same Windows product key before I do the erase of the SSD?
Yes, I am sure about not needing a product key. Go to Settings, updates and security, and then the activation page. You will see Windows is activated with a digital license. It is the digital license for that edition of Windows 10 on that computer that activates Windows 10, not the product key. Your product key for Windows 10 Pro will be VK7JG-NPHTM-C97JM-9MPGT-3V66T. If you have Windows 10 it will be YTMG3-N6DKC-DKB77-7M9GH-8HVX7. You can run slmgr /dlv and see the last five of the product key:
