He`ll be in for a shock when he updates it, things get taken away, things get added with each new version, but....

With that said, he simply needs to back up his data.

Then just go here and click on Update Now.

    Download Windows 10 (

And the proper term is called a "Feature Update"

Windows 10 is a constantly evolving Operating System.

I found this article which clearly states Microsoft is "force" updating Windows 10 (to ready for Windows 11).

Microsoft starts force upgrading more Windows 10 PCs using machine learning
I thought the original question was about forced "upgrading", not updating ? And what is meant by "force(d) anyway ... no choice, or simply an interpretation of in-your-face offers of updates (which has always been the case, nothing new).

The article quoted falls over in the first paragraph .....
Microsoft is apparently using ‘machine learning’ to automatically upgrade the compatible hardware without user permission to ensure a “smooth experience”.

How can Microsoft upgrade the hardware ??

10 home has fewer update options but I doubt win-11 is an issue atm
    Maybe in 4-5 months.

Has anyone had any experience with this
See this experience: Boot loop after Update to 20H2 - unable to start Windows
My own experience: How can I prevent the update when it says "Your update is ready"?
