Installing new ssd drive in a friend's HP laptop..she doesn't have key

    Starting with Windows 8 the Product Key didn't appear on a COA sticker, was embedded and installing/reinstalling Windows picked that up and as mentioned if it had Win10 it most likely was activated and will pick that up when next connected to the 'net and in System go to the Activation.

    Absolutely correct. The clean install of Windows 10 should detect the Windows 8 or 10 product key stored in the computer's firmware, not even ask for a product key or edition to install, and be activated automatically with no user input other than connecting to the internet (either during the install, or after installation is complete).
