Clean Install of Win 10 Home

The installation was canceled because “windows cannot install required files.”
Error code is 0X80070006 “make sure computer is connected to internet”
Obviously a network driver issue. My system is an older legacy bios quad core 3.2 Ghz 8Gb RAM.

Trying to install win 10 on a separate drive with main system drive disconnected which has Win 10 installed working perfectly.

Im using a USB BOOTABLE thumb drive for booting obviously it works as installation appears normal until internet access is necessary. I presume the install routine cannot load network drivers. The target drive contains one large partition 2.5Tb with a smaller system partition but regardless there are bo network drivers on my disk.

No needed network drivers are mentioned in the sticky “installing windows” on this forum or anywhere else that I have seen. So why isn't the win10 install bootable media able to find them?

Can someone please help me get beyond this nagging issue.

    Thanks so much!

Windows setup does not require an internet connection. I would try remaking the installation USB flash drive or using a different physical flash drive altogether. Also, if you have a black USB 2.0 port on the back of the computer directly off the motherboard it is best to use that.

Thanks for responding i think i found the issue. The media creation tool from Microsoft has to be used to make the bootable media, in my case a USB thumb drive, then there is no error terminating the install for no internet connection. This tool is only useable while inside a working Win10 system. It isn’t stated in the sticky here that the bootable USB has to be made using the Microsoft tool which worked fine for me. In prior windows OS editions the conventional method of preparing bootable media was not so picky. All is well now thanks!!

While the Media Creation Tool is certainly the most foolproof way of creating a Windows 10 installation USB flash drive, it is not the only way. Also the Media Creation Tool should work on any Windows, at least back to Windows 7. Other methods of creating a flash drive from an ISO file are listed here:
Create Bootable USB Flash Drive to Install Windows 10

I suspect you simply had a corrupt file on the USB flash drive.

I was quite puzzled indeed but tried that twice and it failed both times. I’ve made numerous recovery usb drives in the past without issue which us why this confused me in addition to using two different USB drives. The media creation tool apparently took a snap shot of my network drivers while it was being made inside WIN 10. It seems highly un likely that two USB devices would both be corrupt when one of them was the used to create the tool.

    Thanks very much.

The Media Creation Tool from Microsoft never includes any drivers from the computer it is created on.
