    Still haven't been offered 21H1

I'm still on 20H2. Weeks ago, I read on another site that 21H1 was released to everyone who actively clicked "Check for updates". Well, not me. It doesn't show. Is it just me?

Edit: To clarify, what I was mainly concerned with was whether or not Microsoft was withholding the update from certain systems based on compatibility issues that were still being worked on, or if I really should have had it offered to me.

@STRESSED You can just do an In-Place upgrade... it should take about 35-45 minutes.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

Here is the short version of the In-place upgrade tutorial...

    DISABLE non-Microsoft:
    a) antivirus software
    b) firewall software
    c) drive encryption software

Make a full OS backup with a program like Macrium Reflect (free)
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free

Go here and get the Media Creation Tool and save it to your desktop.
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

RUN the Media Creation Tool and use it to: Create an ISO image... save IT to your desktop.
This will be the latest version of the ISO image.

Right click the ISO image and choose: MOUNT
Open File Explorer and you will see a new drive letter. It will look like a DVD optical drive.
Double click the new drive letter to open it.
Find setup.exe and double click it to start the in-place upgrade.

Choose the Keep personal files and apps option.

After it's all done... to UNmount the ISO image, right click the new drive letter and choose: EJECT.

The ONLY thing you will lose is some of your personalizations. Your programs and data will be intact.

You may wish to try this: KB5000736 Featured update Windows 10 version 21H1 enablement package

It's a simple "enablement package" installation. It turns on features that are already present.

It is much less intrusive, and should take much less time, than a full upgrade.

Thank you. Am I correct that I should definitely have been offered 21H1 if I click "Check for updates"? Or is it still being withheld from some users?

No. Windows Update is the least reliable source for getting version updates. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I appreciate the replies. I found a couple other ways to obtain the update. One is to use the "Update Assistant", available at:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

Yet another way (and the method I just used) is to add a couple registry values and then (without even rebooting) click "Check for updates". The registry values (shown below) can be added manually or, with Windows 10 Professional, via Group Policy:

    Local Computer Policy >
    Computer Configuration >
    Administrative Templates >
    Windows Components >
    Windows Update >
    Windows Update for Business

The setting under there is "Select the target Feature Update version". I selected "Enabled" and entered "21H1" for "Target Version for Feature Updates", and then clicked OK. After that, going into Windows Update and clicking "Check for updates" is all I needed to do, and 21H1 was pulled in.

    Code:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate]
    "TargetReleaseVersion"=dword:00000001
    "TargetReleaseVersionInfo"="21H1"

I disagree and was only trying to share information with my previous post.

I wasn't offered 21H1 either. I just used the enablement package, and was done in under ten minutes.

I'm not sure what we're arguing about here. I used the Enablement Package (KB50000736) as well. The only difference is that I set a couple registry values (via GPO) and clicked "Check for updates" to get it, rather than downloading it directly in a browser. This was simply my preference, for reasons I will withhold so as to avoid further arguing.
