Downloaded Win10 Pro usb stick won't install on wiped SDD

I downloaded Win10 Pro from Microsoft, had a friend with a new Win10 computer make a bootable usb on his machine, but the stick won't install on wiped SDD.
This is a clean install on an sdd that had Linux Fedora 34 on it, but I wiped it with Darik's D-ban, so it is clean.
I ran all of the Lenovo diagnostics, and all passed.
The downloaded .iso is Win 10_21H1_English_X64.iso

    Welcome to TenForums!

Could you describe a little bit more exactly what is happening? For example, are you successfully booting the drive? If so, how far are you getting in the installation before it fails (be precise in your description) and are you getting any specific error messages?

No error messages as the installation usb blinks about 5-6 seconds as the machine starts up, then blank screen that never goes forward.

Possibly a stupid question: have you verified that the USB drive is, in fact, bootable?

How does the wiped SSD appear in Disk Management?

Well, I took the usb home on faith. Looks as though we should have checked the install media! Won't even try to boot my Linux mint machine. Back to my buddy's for a new download using that Win10 creation tool.
    Thanks.

Let me make a seggestion if I may...

Before you run the Windows Media Creation Tool again, do the following:

    Plug-in the USB flash drive.
Open a command prompt and run "diskpart".
Once you see the "Diskpart>" prompt, run these commands:

    list disk

from the list of disks displayed determine the disk number for the flash drive. The example below assumes disk #1 but make sure to substitute the correct disk number.

    select disk 1
    clean
    convert mbr
    create partition primary
    format fs=fat32 quick
    assign
    exit

Now run the media creation tool.

When done, test to see if you can boot the machine from that thumb drive. That is a safe operation - Windows doesn't get installed until after several initial screens and prompts are displayed. One you have successfully verified that the initial boot works, disconnect the thumb drive and reboot the system.

Hopefully it will now work in your system.

Why would you convert it to MBR, the USB stick ?

Although, I ticked GPT to make my W11 USB installer but I used Rufus 3.14

Many BIOSes will refuse to boot from a thumb drive with GPT.

I have resolved the inability to boot from a thumb drive MANY times by following these very steps. No guarantees, but it is definitely worth trying.
