How long does format take?

Delete every partition except the data partition that you want to keep.

No.

Another option that may be possible is backing up important files > deleting all partitions > clean install > install drivers and applications > restore files

As NavyLCDR instructed, boot from the Win 10 installation drive, go to install, advanced and delete all partitions EXCEPT your data Partition. You will have an unallocated space and one data partition. Select to install on the unallocated space and proceed.
