Which bit of points1,2,3, or 4 dont you follow?

    1. install win7 on an hd in a different machine.
    2. Attach the win7 hd inside the new machine. Do not try and boot into it yet.
    3. Boot the O&O media on the new machine and do the adjust.
    4. Then try and boot into win7 on the new machine.

I don't have another machine to use so I think I'll go the Virtual route. I thank you for your help but this 84 year old man is tired so I think I'll go sit down and have a beer.

I am not sure of your current status but assuming you can boot to Windows 10...
Note to manage dual-boot I use the free version of EasyBCD

    1. First go to Disk Management to see which partition has Windows 7.
In the following example Windows 7 is on partition K:

    2. Run EasyBCD

    3. Select Add New Entry

    4. Add name and drive letter for Windows 7

    9. Note that Windows 7 has been added to boot menu. Exit program.

    10. Reboot computer. You now have a boot menu where you can select either Windows 7 or Windows 10.
