Hi, I note:
a. you may have some HP-specific utilities
b. it uses Broadcom drivers- Broadcom has at times been an issue with updates.
These may or may not present an issue. Without more to go on from logs (see previous post on various locations where there can be logs) it's impossible to say.
I have deleted a Broadcom driver which was for a Bluetooth dongle no longer used and uninstalled Malwarebytes and am at present trying to upgrade again with an inplace upgrade.

Success updated to 21H1! I don't know if uninstalling the Broadcom driver for a Bluetooth dongle was the culprit or uninstalling 3ed party security software Malwarebytes was responsible to have failed the previous update attempt!
nice to see the classic recommendation for this actually working.
Now the user can start a new disk imaging sequence.
I've had similar problem with my pc .. (not same model or lappy but still ) i couldnt upgrade form 1903 to 20H2 or from 20H2 to 21H1 .. it shows the upgrade and then I download it and then it fails.. and then the upgrade/update disappears.. and then when I try thru upgrade assistant it fails and rolls back.. and if it manages to succeed then it wont boot/or boot messes up.. I have to either fix efi or I have clean install. what could be the problem?
There are many possible reasons. That the above was resolved so readily was somewhat a matter of luck, although the error message pointed in the direction of the solution I suggested.
Please start your own thread. Ensure you provide make, model and approx age of your PC, its drivers download page and a screenshot of your partitions using a 3rd party partition manager e.g. Minitool Partition Wizard (not Disk Management).
Run setupdiag.exe and post the results as above.
Specifiy whether you've been offered an upgrade via Windows Update or not.
Check your disks: download and run Hard Disk Sentinel (trial) and post a screenshot of its GUI for each disk.
If you provide clear information it helps greatly and speeds things up. Bear in mind resolving such issues can be lengthy and uncertain.
Just updated one of my home builds to 21H1 from 20H2 from WU and it took about 1 minute....I couldn't believe it so after it updated I checked the version with winver and it was 21H1 19043.1052.
