Where did you found that Macrium 7 isn't supported?
When I tried to install it. A Macrium dialog. No big deal. It was cheap enough. I use Macrium endlessly here, so I would have upgraded eventually anyway.

Your reply got me curious. I checked the Macrium knowledge base, and sure enough, the minimum OS is XP. I'm not sure why I got the error message when I tried to install to Win 10.

Macrium 6, 7 or 8 will all run on Windows 10. What isn't supported is installing 32-bit Reflect on a 64-bit OS or vice versa. Are you sure your installer is the for the same bits as your OS?

No. That may have been the issue. But I don't mind having upgraded. The price was reasonable enough for 4 licenses.

I find W10 much more secure and trouble free than 7 actually. I miss 7 but happily use 10 without thinking about it. A lot of the apps and start menu are just flashy gloss. You can easily have a simple start menu. I just have weather, news, control panel and paint on mine.

Just think of it as W7 with a polished bit on top. Updates are much easier. And less time consuming. I use another antivirus rather than the built in defender, as I did on W7.

I do use pro but purely to set a schedule to delay big updates. I think it’s worth the extra to upgrade to pro when home is basically free to install. But only for that reason.

if you do a clean install you will find virtually nothing installed in the way of programs in control panel. Only programs you choose to instal. Most of the apps can be uninstalled or turned off. Some aren’t actually installed they are ads to instal them. Just remove then ftom the start menu or uninstall.

I still have my copy of word 2013 and install that and ignore the ms office app versions etc. Or uninstall the links to them.

It can be as simple as you want it to be.
