Win 10 DVD vs USB stick install .Use same product key .New pc.

    Hi all !
I have new pre built PC comming this week . I have also OEM 64bit Windows 10 DVD comming too.Question is the pc has no DVD rom installed but I have acsess to external DVD drive.Would I be better to download newer version of win 10 to usb stick and install from there?Would the same product key work that came with the DVD?

Hope this doesent sound too complated!

    Many thanks

Yes. USB is much faster than DVD and if you have an USB 3.x drive, you will get fast installation of Windows 10. Also, OEM DVDs are have some bloatwares that came into it.

    I agree with SIW2.

Furthermore, even though you have access to a DVD drive, USBs can survive being sat on or stepped on.

And I agree with you that downloading the latest version is the way to go. Your product key will be valid for it. Just be careful to download install Home or Pro to match the Edition your product key is for [it will not work for both].

1 Download the ISO - use one of the sources identified in Download Windows 10 ISO File -TenForumsTutorials [one of them, the MS MCT tool, achieves both steps 1 & 2]

2 Make the InstallUSB - Create Bootable Installation USB - TenForumsTutorials

    All the best,
    Denis

Any download of Windows 10 that is official, unaltered from Microsoft will have multiple editions of Windows 10 included, including both Home and Pro as well as several others.
