    Lost rescue media

I lost the USB dongle I used for Repairing Windows 10. What should I do to create a new one?

    Kenneth,

1 Download the ISO - use one of the sources identified in Download Windows 10 ISO File -TenForumsTutorials [one of them, the MS MCT tool, achieves both steps 1 & 3]

2 If you are running an 'InPlace upgrade' / 'Repair install' procedure then you can do so directly from the downloaded ISO file as well as from an InstallUSB but, in both cases, you boot into Windows normally not from the USB- Repair Install - TenForumsTutorials

3 You will only ever need to consider making an InstallUSB [or DVD] if you want to run a clean install [or to carry out specific repairs such as Startup repairs] - Create Bootable Installation USB - TenForumsTutorials

    4 For info -
    Startup Repair - TenForumsTutorials
Clean Install - TenForumsTutorials and, in preparation for one, consider Backup and Restore Device Drivers - TenForumsTutorials

Isn't there away to create a Rescue dongle using the installed version of Windows 10. Why do I need to download an ISO and go through the whole install procedure. All I want to do is make a bootable USB that has an option to Repair I have Windows 10 Pro 64-bit installed and running fine.

It depends what you want it to do. There is no definition of a "Rescue dongle" so I fell back on what I knew, an InstallUSB.

To avoid having to download anything, you can just make this instead

I need coffee, I thought somewhere inside of W10, one can make a Rescue DVD and/or USB flash drive? Long ago, I was able to do that from within Windows 7 Pro, make a rescue device, which can also do a Startup Repair.

@Try3 posted the link in the post just above yours.

I used the Media Creation Tool to create a Windows 10 installation USB drive. Then I
inserted the Windows 10 Installation drive and ran the Repair function. It replaced the
system without affecting any of my data. The problem I was having with user names no
longer exists on this notebook, however I have 2 notebooks, both are HP EliteBook 8460p.
The same problem arose on both notebooks and still exists on the other one.
I wonder what caused the problem.

NavyCLDR, I missed it, thanks for the heads-up! Now, continuing, an interesting follow-up from KCav:

I removed OneDrive from this notebook. I would like to start using it again but only to backup my System Partition.
    Advice welcome.
