Why not just make an image though ? Or use the reset feature, Why keep re installing all the time ? No need.
Making an image seems pretty interesting. Can you point me to the right direction and how to learn to do this? I've heard about this but have never really looked into it. Does the reset feature do perform wiping as good as wiping the way I described in my post?

    Thank you!

See here: Windows 10 ISO Download

Gives you a couple ways to get an ISO file.

    Hello Everyone,

Once or twice a year I wipe my whole PC and it is time to do another one. I usually install a full version of XP then upgrade to win 8.1. Do I need to still do that or can I just pop in Windows 10 Bootable disc to start the re installation process? If that is ok, then what else do I need prior to re installation?

I made a Windows 10.iso file to make the installation.

    Thank you!
    The answer is NO

Thank You for adding that link Derek.

    Removing my advice :)

Just as long as the OP understands he must upgrade from 7 or 8 or 8.1 etc in order to get Windows 10 free, then do his future clean installs, that`s all that matters :)

I want to thank everybody for their help and advice. I did my wiping on my computer. I'm now installing updates to my Windows 8 installation.

My next question is, after I install all the updates for my windows 8 installation should I just download Windows 8.1 via windows update or do I just use the Windows 8.1 DVD I created from the ISO file same thing goes for my windows 10 DVD I created from the ISO file? I am thinking going the DVD route for both windows 8.1 and windows 10 would be the best method. Do you guys agree?

Also, I know @AddRAM mentioned about doing an image or a reset as an option for doing cleaning installs in the future, but I would like to make sure does everybody agree for me to change this way of doing things. I do notice it takes quite some time to take care of this.

    Thank you!

Everybody's help and advice explained the way you were doing things was completely unnecessary but it appears your doing the same thing again .

Take their advice is what i would say and upgrade to Win 10 via the instructions on this forum and let it activate , you can then do a clean install if you wish or just do a refresh for Win 10 and your done. Why you keep messing with Win 8 is beyond me .

Whatever you do, you can't upgrade from 8.0 to 10. You need to be on an activated 8.1. If you do that upgrade as Microsoft wants you to do, the 8.1 activation will transfer automatically to that 10 installation. Consider that if you are thinking of upgrading to 10 and then six months later wiping it and going back to 10 by installing 8, upgrading to 8.1., and upgrading back to 10. I'd guess you'd need to telephone MS and explain what you are doing and hope there's a way to move that activation back to 8.

Is there something you hope to accomplish by wiping and starting over so frequently that cannot be achieved by doing a reset? See the discussion mid-page here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...overy-options#.

I was wondering about that myself , most have questions about the "reset" option really being the same as a clean install.

I think the OP mistakenly believes he must go the 8 route before 8.1 for some reason , he could save a lot of time by forgetting about 8 .
