I have looked at so many webpages of text relating to 'update compliance' I am totally lost, Azure subscriptions and pages of stuff I have not a single understanding of. Way above my limited experience. I searched for a link that said "Click here to test" but to no avail.

It would seem I have to either leave as is and hope one day MS fix my 'issue' and update my PC. Bite the bullet and disable Safeguards. Then repair install the new OS. And if it all goes pear shaped rely on M Reflex to bring my PC back from the dead.

    Quote:
Disabling safeguards does not guarantee your device will be able to successfully update. The update might still fail and will likely result in a bad experience since you are bypassing the protection against known issues."
    Unquote.

The old saying if it ain't busted don't fix it springs to mind. But an insecure OS not good either.
I will read up on the M Reflex tutorials and then take the plunge.

When you do create your image, make sure all partitions are 'ticked'. My example is UEFI. Fewer partitions for MBR.
Also create the bootable disk before making changes.

Thank you dalchina, your help is very much appreciated.

    My HD setup is:

I assume its the ticks on the two partitions on the first drive.

    Would you believe it.
I have printed out and read the suggested tutorials.
Have my Windows.iso ready to go.
Have my Macrium Reflex rescue media ready to go if needed.
    All set.

Last night I got the same message about end of support. I thought nothing to lose and checked Windows Update. To my utter surprise I saw this:
W10 seems my system is not yet ready for latest version.-w10-update-2021-04-20-195429.jpg

Perhaps my old OS got scared I was about to make a pigs ear and took pity on me.
    Perhaps it read this thread.
    I don't really care as..............

I forget how long I have been waiting to update my OS

But, as of the early hours this morning my OS is:

Thank you all but Windows beat us to it!

    Good.. now
    a. Create a disk image before it all blows up in your face
    b. If using networking, see if that still works
    c. Note that startup impact (task manager, startup) doesn't work- MS broke it
    d. Note that correct search syntax in file explorer is not now highlighted in blue (as it was up to 1903 before MS changed search
    e. You probably don't use Cortana- but its function has radically changed (I can't think of a use for it- could set reminders in 1903)

Welcome to your shiny new build!

Could be one step forward and two steps backwards.

    Task manager: lots of ways..
    CTRL + SHIFT + ESC
rt click task bar, click Task Manager
Win key +S (or in the search bar) - type task m & click
    Winkey + r, Taskmgr.exe

    etc

Similarly many ways for Powershell e.g.

    Are you using USB2?
Depends how much data you're imaging of course.
For me, a base image of Windows (first, largest image) over USB3 from a SSD to a HDD takes around 15-20mins.
Differentials- depends- 9min to 12 mins.
