I found these had gone from the normal start menu, still listed but dead links. Looks like I will find other major changes, is there a 'Whats changed' link anywhere?
I am using USB2 on a WD My Passport 2GB drive, even so 3 hrs seems a very long time. My earlier HDD setup does show the size and usage of my C drive.

Nominally when imaging I see a transfer rate of around 400-500MB/s (that's not a 'real' rate but takes into account compression I believe.
Over USB2 it will be much slower.
Also depends whether you're including large data partitions, or just the O/S partitions, and what you have on C: e.g. large games or lots of data.
Further, a differential or in particular incremental image will be faster being the difference. If you have the free version of MR, only differential imaging is available.
If you only ever create full images, this is the least time and space efficient.
After you have 2004 installed, it`s a snap to update to 2009, also called 20H2.

Right click the Start Icon brings up selection of inks, including the Task Manager and Windows Power shell, these are still on my menu but the links do not go anywhere. I did find they had moved using Google so I can still access them. I would have thought MS would have either kept them live or removed them.
If you're referring to post #15, then considering your lengthy image creation time, is it possible you also had partitions on your data disks ticked to be imaged?My earlier HDD setup does show the size and usage of my C drive.
You can mount and view your image file to see exactly what was imaged, or look at your backup job.

Only my Disk 1 with C drive and recovery X drive. Not sure why X was ticked, not something I have done, well I do not remember ticking that one!
Mount my image, I guess there maybe a tutorial on that?

Macrium has extensive help, and there's a full online copy as well. That's rather what help is there for.. or you can use e.g. Google.Mount my image, I guess there maybe a tutorial on that?
Otherwise poke around the menu options. It's not difficult..
Recovery X: - will be 1 of the O/S partitions. MBR configurations can have them too.. just as long as none of the other disks were included as far as the long time is concerned. (You can include whatever you want in a given image).
