    Thanks for the information.

    That's not a lot of files that need to be copied.

    The migration log ends at this point:
    <Operation Name="Store" Type="File" Path="C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\S-1-5-18 [6106ae9592abb540103c5f297ab31738_396c474e-2d82-4ca5-975e-9ad7b8fecd5a]" SimObj="false" Success="true"/>
    Perhaps there is a corrupt file in this folder on which Windows Setup is stuck.

    Just a guess.

    Have you ever checked the disk on which Windows is located with chkdsk?

    The logs displayed multiple recent BSOD.

    When available please post results for post #7.

    1) Open administrative command prompt (ACP) and type or copy and paste:
    2) sfc /scannow

    4) wmic recoveros set DebugInfoType = 2
    5) wmic recoveros get autoreboot
    6) wmic recoveros get DebugInfoType
    7) wmic Computersystem where name="%computername%" set AutomaticManagedPagefile=True
    8) wmic Computersystem where name="%computername%" get AutomaticManagedPagefile
    9) bcdedit /enum {badmemory}

    10) When these have completed > right click on the top bar or title bar of the administrative command prompt box > left click on edit then select all > right click on the top bar again > left click on edit then copy > paste into the thread

    15) Open administrative command prompt and type or copy and paste:
    chkdsk /r /v
    This may take hours to run so plan to run overnight.
    Run on all drives using the syntax: chkdsk /r /v C: or chkdsk /r /v D: changing the drive letter to the applicable drive.

    C:\Windows\system32>chkdsk /r /v
    The type of the file system is NTFS.
    Cannot lock current drive.

    Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
    process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
    checked the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)

    Type: Y
    reboot

    16) Use the information in this link to find the chkdsk report in the event viewer.

    To wrap up the thread here, the only way I was able to get an in-place upgrade working was by unplugging the existing drives and putting in a found Win7 boot disk from another Dell, and plugged it into the Sata port. This upgraded to WIn10 without a problem.
