MSI Lightning R9 290X at the moment or PNY GTX 660 Ti.
My motherboard is listed in the first post, it's an ASRock Z590 series (Steel Legend).
To be honest, I'm surprised that card doesn't support UEFI being it was released in 2012? Anyway, have you tried contacting the vendor via email or phone and explaining the situation for an updated BIOS? I had to do that with my card as posted in post #6. In my case my card was still under warranty and the issue was well known.

Anyway, there's this post, but the card vendor is EVGA - UEFI BIOS for 600 Series

Yes, unfortunately neither MSI nor PNY have a UEFI vBIOS for my cards--I received both replies today. So I just have to wait until I am able to get a more modern GPU at less than astronomical prices.

That's weird, especially for the R9 290X. I have a Sapphire R9 280X and it certainly supports UEFI.

Edit: I just thought of something. On you R9 290X is there a dual "BIOS" switch on the side of the card? Example this...

Image source: AMD Radeon R9-290X review - Dual BIOS Switch Positions.

If so, try toggling positions. One side of the BIOS "may" include UEFI. That said, if there is such a switch, they are usually performance boost switches, but...

Some brands did not extend this support. This thread only lists UEFI support for MSI Gaming R9 290X, not for the Lightning version:

Well it was worth a try. Anyway re-read my edited post above and see if that applies. Based on your reply here it may not, but worth a look anyway.

    Good luck.

Edit, unless I'm missing something that link you provided does say there's a UEFI bios for the R9 290 card... VGA Bios Collection: MSI R9 290 4 GB | TechPowerUp. You just need to make sure the card info matches.

I don't think I can install an MSI Gaming BIOS to an MSI Lightning card--I'll look into it. I know the MSI Lightning PCB was custom made, non-reference. I will look into it.

Again, make sure the info matches - Device ID, Part number, etc. You certainly don't want to make things worse!
