Windows 10 media creation tool

Hi guys
Can someone help me my Dell Vostro 3750 and has developed a fault and will not boot its saying there is no operating system.
So i decided to do a full new install, so i went on another computer and downloaded the windows creation tool and then tried to make a recovery dvd but the latest creation tool features windows 20H2 will not fit on a dvd so i made a recovery to a USB stick. but my Vostro will not boot from a usb i have moved the usb drive to the top of the list in the boot order but the Vostro just ignores the usb.
So what's my next thing to try please

Hi thanks for the advice i do need the x64 bit version and thats the only option i get when downloading the creation tool. I don't have access to a DL dvd writer i have a 16gb usb drive but with the creation tool installed but i am not able to boot from it

How are you trying to boot from the USB? Normally, it´s not necessary to change the boot list in the UEFI Setup. Did you try hitting F12 repeatedly at boot?

In the Media Creation Tool the default for 32/64-bit is determined by what version of Windows that computer has.
The other computer apparently has Windows 10 64-bit since that is what Media Creation Tool defaulted to.

What is important is does your Dell Vostro 3750 have Windows 10 32-bit or 64-bit?

If you really need 32-bit you can change to that in Media Creation Tool

1. Uncheck Use the recommended options for this PC



2. Select 32-bit (x86)

Hi yes i hit the F12 and selected the usb to boot from but it just ignore the usb

Test the USB stick by booting a known good computer from it.

Hi thank you for the advice yes both computers are 64 bit. i have taken your advice and made a 32 bit version and it does fit on a dvd so i booted with this and yes it worked ok. but now my laptop is working but its only 32bit

I have tried to do a restore and run the windows upgrade 3 times now and it still 32 bit

So any idea how i can get it back to 64 please

Ok good idea i will try that tomorrow does it need to be fat32 or ntfs

Changing from x86 to x64 or the other way requires a clean install. You'll need to get the x64 version to make the change. If not wanting to do it there's nothing wrong with staying with x86, just that it won't display/work with over 4GB RAM, maybe a bit less, where x64 can use much more.

Hi thanks for the advice it seem i am stuck the 64bit version will not fit on a normal DVD and i dont have access to a dual layer DVD writer and my Vostro will not boot from a usb stick

I have been doing this for 3 days now and my head is bursting i am going to try another usb stick tomorrow
