Conflict with HP and Microsoft Windows

HP has been bugging me about the little exclamation point besides it's HP Support Assistant Question mark

I went through all the things they claim is "Important".
I thought it was giving me fits because I had not downloaded it's HP Hardware Diagnostics for Windows.
So I did and everything check okay except Network Drivers. It said they were missing so I needed to get the updates.
But my Wi-Fi is running great and I have had no problems. In fact this computer works so much faster than my
older HP when it comes to Wireless Networking. So.............. a headscratcher.
So I went to Windows Update and downloaded a new KB update. Under that update was an
Optional Updates available and it is that sticky Driver Update that HP keeps screaming about.
However when I click on those Driver Updates it shows a couple then on the side Windows States
if you are having a problem with a piece of hardware here are some suggested drivers to download
otherwise Windows Updates will keep you drivers updated.

So who do I trust Windows and keep ignoring the HP nag or should I download those pesky
Network Drivers that HP insist that I download?

You can work on the principle that if everything's fine, updating a driver is more likely to introduce a problem than double your performance, say (!).

If on the other hand you get repeated annoying notifications, that needs dealing with one way or another.

Re: Conflict with HP and Microsoft

It's the apple or it's the orange. I usually run under the philosophy "If ain't broke-don't fix it.

I will just have to ignore HP for the time being. Maybe I getting "flaming darts" from them because
I have resisted their Offer of tech support for $14.99 a month. !@#$%^&* about everything in the pc world is "money grabbers". Outside of the extra sensitive touchpad and an occasional misbehaving touchpad mouse scrolling down the right side this computer is a blessing over my old battle ax computer. The old one was good for about 6 years then battery craped out then keyboard would only work half the time so it outlived it's usefulness.

Ok I will wait for a few others to chime in but thanks for your input Dalchina. Ok I just checked in the taskbar I finally lost the exclamation point beside HP Assistant. So I must be doing something right. Maybe my magical update from MS Windows World checked off one of HP gripes.

If you want to tuneup the computer logs can be scanned.

    Run:
Tuneup.bat - Click here to go to the BSOD batch repository to download and run this batch file.

    V2 and DM:
    BSOD - Posting Instructions

Outside of the extra sensitive touchpad
Many touchpads have adjustable sensitivity and a number of options to control their responsiveness e.g. palm check.

As a general rule, if your network adapter was part of the computer when you bought it then you should get the latest driver from HP, Support, Software & Drivers.

HP eventually pass updates to MS so they will be available through Windows update.
