Cannot upgrade from 1803

Hi Everyone,

I'm profoundly annoyed by anything related to upgrading. I wish I could just use my computer and not be constantly worried by the OS sniffing in the background. That's why I used Sledgehammer on my laptop as soon as I fired it the first time.

Now I'm stuck because

• some apps from Adobe's Creative Cloud (I'm a professional graphic designer) will not install on a Windows older than 1809
• my Windows refuses to upgrade, giving me an error message (see attached PNG)

Prior to that, I've tried upgrading using WUMT, to no avail. I've then uninstalled the Sledgehammer scripts so as to use Windows original update mechanism, but I get the error above.

What can I do to install a newer version of Windows (at this point I don't care which, though the lastest would be fine so I get into this same trouble as late as possible)?

Your desire was to block Windows from upgrading. You have succeeded in your goal. I would suggest a clean install. Although you could try upgrading from an ISO file downloaded with the Media Creation Tool:

thanks for your reply. So it looks like you are implying that Sledgehammer's action is irreversible, which I hadn't understood quite like that. Is it really? No way to un-do what Sledgehammer does? As you can tell, I'm no expert, but it does sound weird.

Download a Win 10 installation iso.
Mount the iso
Run Setup.exe (it will update even with Sledgehammer)

I've executed Sledgehammer_2.7.2\Portable\Sledgehammer\uninstall\Uninstaller_undo-all-script-changes.cmd with admin rights. It has executed fine with no error report.

Glad to read that this is possible, which is also what I understood when I first installed Sledgehammer. I have no clue where Windows is at in terms of version. I really don't care much. Something recent will be fine.

List and uninstall all non-Microsoft antivirus software
(This includes always on and manual software.)

Latest Win 10 is 2010 or 20h2.

On post #3 (above) I gave you a Win 10 iso down loader.
Download, extract and run. Choose the version you want to download (I suggest 2004)
Mount the iso
Run Setup.exe
Reinstall Sledgehammer

You can also get the Windows 10 ISO file using the Media Creation Tool linked to in post #2.
