Only two possibilities:
- You created D:\Users
- The drive once had Windows on it and D:\Users (created when Windows was installed on that drive).

If you created and is not linked to a library, you can rename it to something else than \Users

I very seriously doubt it.

It's a manual process as far as I know. You can get in a jam if you don't know the right method. Files inaccessible; no permission, etc.

It isn't a difficult task. Easy during installation.
I've been using D:\Users since 2011 on win 7 (laptop and desktop) and win 10 (desktop).
Never had a issue. Windows 10 updates and upgrades without any issue.
