WppRecorder.sys problem when updating Windows 10 from 1909 to 20H2

Please post V2 and Intel results.

I came into work early this morning to get a head start on preparing this computer for the work day, and I find it sitting on this screen


I don't know how long it has been on this - the HDD light is not flickering so there is probably no HDD activity.
After about 10 minutes the screen went black, then the computer restarted through the BIOS back its usual screen, this one.


When I click on the "Windows 10" option (or do nothing which automatically chooses that option after 10 seconds) it looks like its going to proceed as normal, but instead it goes to the top screen, and stays there - tail-chaser spinning. I let it carry on, hoping it was just a very slow boot, but after about 10-15 minutes screen goes black again, and once again, the computer boots through BIOS to the bottom screen.
When I click on "Change defaults...." it looks like its going to do it, then computer restarts through the BIOS back to the top screen. I tried rinse and repeat with no success - the computer will not boot into windows at all, not even repair or safe mode.
With the workday approaching, I have been left with no alternative but to restore the Macrium Reflect backup that was done on Friday night, the 23rd ...
I'm gutted after all that work we have nothing to show for it, so I'm almost back to square one (back on 1909 but at least its working for the day)
I feel like giving up on this, and saying to hell with it, just doing a fresh install to 20H2 and reinstalling all the apps and programs. Do any of you think its still worth trying to proceed as before?

The computer is in use at the moment, and won't be available for some time (I'm on a different computer at this time).

It might be the weekend before I am able to get access again.

However, I should say that the C drive was overwritten when the Macrium image was restored this morning from Friday night's backup which was running v1909, so none of the logs and things I collected on the weekend are there.. they have all gone.

I don't think booting to Win 10 via the ISO is going to help much.

Once an image is restored you're back to that moment in time with all of its pro / con.

I will mark this thread as solved. The computer in question would not start monday morning (ASUS Bios then no boot disk found). I used GRC's Spinrite 6 to see if I could effect some sort of recovery, but no dice. The SSD is a goner.

There was no data on the system disk (all data is stored on a separate HDD) so we have decided to dead-loss this system and fresh install on a new HDD.
