    Trouble Reinstalling Windows 10

    I have recently tried to completely reinstall Windows 10, as it has been giving me lots of trouble. But I got a message saying "There was a problem resetting your PC. No changes were made." I tried running System File Checker to fix it, but it simply said "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them." I tried running it again under a clean boot, but I just got the same result. Using a System Restore Point didn't help either.

    Hi, to completely reinstall Win 10 you can follow

    Clean Install Windows 10

    Use the MS media creation tool to create a bootable flash drive to boot your PC from to begin as per the tutorial.

    N.B.

    Before doing that and to save you possibly wasting a lot of time, check your disk(s).

    Download install and use Hard Disk Sentinel (trial). - Best instant appraisal I know of right on its GUI.

    Only proceed with the clean install if that passes.

    Also make sure you have a full backup of all data on C: and all your license information for installed programs.

    =====================
    Note: if you've never done a clean install before read carefully the steps around step 13,14.

    You install Win 10 to unallocated space on disk. Win 10 creates its own partitions.
    Therefore, as per the tutorial you delete existing partitions forming the O/S - typically 4 for a UEFI installation.

    Activation should be automatic.

    ====================
    Your laptop seems to be from around 2011, so there's not guarantee whatsoever of compatibility with Win 10 or any ongoing build of Win 10. Running win 10 and upgrading to a later build is therefore at your own risk.

    The latest official drivers available from HP seem to be for Win 7.

    Did your problems start after a Windows upgrade?

    You need a bootable device to clean install Windows 10.

    Create Bootable USB Flash Drive to Install Windows 10

    Select the unallocated space. There is no need to delete a data partition, if any.
