To shrink the old Windows partition, run the following commands:
DiskPart
List Volume
Select Volume C
👉 (Make sure Volume C is the Windows partition.)
shrink desired=409600 minimum=102400
👉 (It will be shrunk by at most 400 GB and at least 100 GB)
b1gt1m, during installation you can also delete all partitions but not the C: partition.
Then choose to install on the C: partition (that has damaged windows). It will be created a Windows.old folder and all existing files and folders will be moved to this folder and then installed a new Windows under C:.
Once installed, you go to C:\windows.old\users"name" and move your files to the new library.
Once done, delete C:\windows.old with all remaining files and folders.
How 'Exactly' did you this? I do have another windows 10 desktop I have access to that I can do this on! This may well be the answer to this enormous technical headache!!

OK I found the cbs.log file, it is 52Mb in size, an no that's not a typo!!! I'm thinking of deleting all the cbs.log files off the disk an then running SFC again. Would you agree?
Alternatively you may be able to change C:\WINDOWS\Logs\CBS\CBS.log > C:\WINDOWS\Logs\CBS\CBS.log.old
You can upload only one file at a time instead of putting all files into one ZIP file to be uploaded.
Also you can use share links (one drive, drop box, or google drive).
I connected her drive to a SATA port and it got a drive letter, say F:. Then the command was:
Then I added the second Windows to my boot menu:Code:dism /Image:F:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions
Then rebooted into the second Windows and it worked.Code:bcdboot F:\Windows /d /addlast
