Can't update error 0x800f0900 and can't install from .ISO 0x8007001F

Hi all,

I've been unable to run any updates for a while now, I keep getting the following erros:


After looking into this, I downloaded an ISO of my current Windows version (1909 build 18363) to do a repair install but this comes back with the following error:


In Command Prompt I've run sfc /scannow and then dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth and get the following result:


I have already done a search on these forums, but if I'm honest I didn't really understand some of the solutions! (I'm a bit of a novice). Is anybody able to help please?

Welcome to the forum. As your system is so old we have a lot that can't update the solution is a clean install of the latest windows this all ways works

It's only 2 years old! lol. A clean install is the last thing I want to do...too many programs and associated plugins...

Actually, that throws up the following errors:





Well, I thought I'd try an in-place upgrade repair install. So I downloaded the latest ISO using Heidoc iso downloader and tried to update whilst keeping files and apps. When it rebooted, it showed a message that said: installing updates 0%. Then in rebooted and showed the message "undoing changes made to your computer". It then rebooted with the "we couldn't install Windows 10" error message shown above.
So.... any ideas? Or is my OS so screwed that a new clean install is the only way?

Can you upload the Windows Update logs from the following path?
C:\Windows\logs\CBS


Copy and paste the CBS folder on your desktop, zip it and then upload it on wetransfer.com and share the link here please.


I would come back then once I looked at the log files.

Hello again,

Let's try the following:

Download SFCFix.exe and save this to your Desktop.
Download the file below, WeTransfer, and save this to your Desktop too.
Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
Save any open documents and close all open windows.
On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.



SFCFix will now process the script.
Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
Then upload the SFCFix.txt.

Please run: dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth in the command prompt as administrator and then upload the latest cbs log again.
