Current Windows 10 ISO and version?

    Hello:
I have read how to get the current ISO from MS but am not sure if it is the latest.
I am now running Windows 10 Pro 64 bit ver 1909 18363.1256 and made the changes to not update but wonder when it will force an update anyway. So, will the links to MS that allow you to d/l the latest and select you want the full ISO to use on another machine give me the LATEST ISO? I am not sure just what the latest is...could it be 20h2 19042.662 and will it break my system?

I hope this is the correct forum.

The Media Creation Tool from the Microsoft Website:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

Will get you the latest official ISO file. If you are in doubt, just download the MCT again. However, the official ISO file from Microsoft is usually only updated once during each version's cycle, so it may not contain the latest official build of that version of Windows 10.

The instructions in this tutorial will always allow you to download the latest ISO [and also guide you in downloading an earlier version in case you ever need to do that]
Download Windows 10 ISO File -TenForumsTutorials

You can always check which version an ISO*** is by using this procedure
See Full Details about a Windows 10 ISO file - TenForumsTutorials

*** And the same procedure can be used to find out the version of an installation USB.

The latest is 2010 (20h2) but it has many patches.
    You can download using MCT
Download the iso, mount it and run Setup.exe
After the upgrade, let it apply the patches.

It looks like the latest MCT downloads version 19042.631 which is 20H2. However, the latest official build of 20H2 is 19042.746. You would go from 19042.631 to 19042.746 with a cumulative update which would happen after installation.

Thank You all for the response. I can wait for the update but did want an ISO if I select something and Windows asks for installation media! That used to happen a long time ago (XP) and am not sure it still does it if it wants a driver.

Windows 10 won't do that unless there is something wrong with the installed Windows 10. What really matters is the major version number before the decimal point, IE: 19042.

Let's put some specifics to this:

If you were to pull down an ISO right now using the Windows Media Creation tool, you get build 19042.631 of Windows 10 20H2. This is the November 19, 2020 release.

The latest patch Tuesday release (Jan 12, 2021) will take you to build 19042.746.
The very latest patch (the Feb 2, 2021 Feb Preview Update) would take you to build 19042.789.

You can install the version from the ISO and then simply update it, or I can teach you the CORRECT way to update your ISO to the latest build.

NOTE: By correct way, I mean I can show you how to update the main install.wim, the setup dynamic update, the Safe OS dynamic update, .NET updates, Servicing Stack Update, and WinPE update. This would allow you to have the latest build on hand every time. With every update that Microsoft puts out, I always have 25 editions of Windows updated within a few hours of the update being released

Thank you but I think I will hold on for now. Any idea when MS will force my 1909 to update as I did do the delay hack.
