Can't install windows on GPT drive problem. (SSD SATA and NVMe)

    Hi,

I just recently bought PC parts and upgraded my PC. From my current i7-4770k to a Ryzen 5 3600. At first installation was ok, installed it no problem. Installation was conducted with a USB boot drive (Installed Win 10 Enterprise). I installed it on the NVMe drive with my institutional account. Formatted my old SSD SATA drive as I cannot remove all the previous partions created when it had windows. Then remembered that I need to change it to a local account so that if anything goes wrong, the I only surrender the local password to the IT technician and not my entire online work account. I don't remember what kind of formatting I did, but safe to say that I can no longer install windows of both drives. I followed this guide (and did the steps c-g then exit), but did not work when I tried to install windows. Now what are my options of reformatting the drive so that I can install windows?

I think I have an external SATA dock which I can use to take the HD out and mount it there and mount it to a laptop if it is easier to format it back

    TL : DR
    1. installed windows on new NVMe. Current Sata still has the Windows and actually booted without me doing anything.
    2. forgot to use local account password and decided to reinstall
    3. formatted the SSD and then the NVMe
    4. Can no longer install windows on the NVMe/SATA.
    5. BIOS still detects it though.

    New setup:
    Ryzen 5 3600
    Gigabyte Aorus B550m Pro
    32GB Ram
    1 TB Crucial NVMe
1 TB Crucial M500 Sata SSD
4 TB WD Blue (not touching it as it has local backup)
    MSI GTX770

Did you select a device with the "UEFI" prefix from the boot menu?
In my example below, it is "UEFI: PNY OU3 3.0 PMAP".

Find it on the boot menu.
On GIGABYTE, press F12 to access the boot menu.

Ok, found that. When I select that to install, and select the partition, it says: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. OnEFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks."

    I followed these two videos:
Windows Cannot Be Installed to This Disk. the Selected Disk Has an MBR Partition Table - YouTube
Windows Cannot Be Installed to This Disk the Selected Disk is of the GPT Partition FIX - YouTube

but still does not work. It says We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one, see the Setup log files.

You just have to delete the drive to unallocated space, then the installer will make the necessary partitions.

    Backup all your Data 1st.

    Clean Install Windows 10

Data is all backed up. Will proceed to delete everything. Actually deleted the partstions few times and create partition, still same problem.

Are you choosing the non UEFI version on the usb stick ?

Sometimes it`s the USB stick installer, what did you use to create it ?

I chose the UEFI now. Deleted the partition, tried to install on it. It says "Windows detected that the EFI system partition was formatted as NTFS. Format the EFI system partition as FAT32 and restart the installation".

I used this winsetup for creating the disk. Choosing the second option, USBCD4Win/WInBUilder/Windows FLPC setup/BartPE

    Update:
Finally it works. For some reason I had to also diskpart and clean the SATA SSD as well. Now when both are unallocated disk, I just proceeded to install and it works. I noticed there were 4 partitions on the SATA SSD. 3 were like system reserve or something. Maybe the partitions had something to do with permitting installation on the NVMe.
