help me restore the default files in the recovery partition.

Normally windows installation creates a 500mb recovery partition. I think it has those small recovery files in it??

I manually created a new bigger recovery partition, and I want to dump those winRE files into the partition.

Where and how do I install the recovery files?

I don't want to create a full system backup. Just the RE stuff.

The default recovery partition can be deleted and recreated by
    a) performing an in place upgrade repair
    b) command line

Alternatively you can create your own recovery partition:

You should first turn off the recovery environment. That removes the files from the existing recovery partition . Then resize or create your new one, and then turn recovery back on. That repopulates the recovery environment. It it necessary to turn off recovery before deleting the old recovery partition because there is only ever one copy of the WinRE.wim file. When you turn off recovery it it returned to the C:\Windows\System32\Recovery folder, from where it can be redeployed to the recovery partition when you enable it.

If you deleted the old recovery partition while the recovery environment was enabled then you have deleted your only copy of WinRE.wim. You should have turned off the recovery environment first.

All is not lost, if you have the install ISO or USB for the version of W10 that you currently have installed, then you can extract WinRE.wim from it. Place it in the C:\Windows\System32\Recovery folder then you will be able to enable the recovery environment again. You can extract WinRE.wim from the install.esd (or install.wim) by opening it with 7-zip File Manager. Place it in c:\Windows\System32\Recovery\ and you will be able to enable your new recovery partition.

    awesome. just what I need.

I restored partitions using a aomei backupper, and the restored drive did not have the recovery partition, nor did it have winre.wim in the /recovery folder.

doing a upgrade repair didn't work for me. Got a 'first boot' error and couldn't transfer settings or something.
