Windows 10 Product ID Changed, So Invalid Product Key .?

    Hello..

I did a windows 10 reinstall on my Thinkpad Laptop after upgrading it to Windows 10 Home 20H2 (Build 19042.685). I did it previously, and my windows got activated automatically, but this time its not..

I logged in with same Microsoft Account as previously, but its not activated this time..

I got the Genuine Windows with the laptop only when i bought it...

Before reinstalling i took backup of my laptop credentials with a tool..

now i noticed that my Product ID is different then of the details i have in backup text file..

I am afraid to ask, Is it possible that Product ID is changed. ?? (becoz as far i knw, its the hardware ID).

Please guide on how to reactivate my windows..

Hi, the Tutorial section is very useful - have alook. I searched it for
    Activation
    for you.

    Activate Windows 10
If you did this previously, it should be easy:
Link Microsoft Account to Windows 10 Digital License
    Check Activation of Windows 10
Use Activation Troubleshooter in Windows 10

Further problems: get a copy of Showkeyplus (free) by member Superfly. (Google)
Post what it shows (without revealing any personal key info)

    Using the Activation troubleshooter
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...8-40119c2a696c

If you know what the correct product key is why don't you just change it?

How to change Windows 10's product key using Settings
    1. Open Settings.
    2. Click on Update & security.
    3. Click on Activation.
    4. Click the Change product key link.
    5. Type the 25-digit product key for the version of Windows 10 you want.
    6. Click Next to complete the process.

How to find the current Windows 10 Product Key:

    1. Right-click on Start
    2. Select Windows PowerShell (Admin)
    3. Enter the following command:
    (Get-WmiObject -query 'select * from SoftwareLicensingService').OA3xOriginalProductKey > C:\win10key.txt

The product key will be in the file "C:\win10key.txt"

BTW, the key I found this way agrees with ShowKeyPlus!

My guess is that you likely installed the wrong edition of Windows 10. You installed Windows 10 Home when you should have installed Windows 10 Home N. Or the other way around.

The Product ID and the Product key are two quite different things. The key is unique and used for activation, the Product IDis not unique. It identifies how Windows was installed, which version, and whether it was an OEM or a Retail install. For example, a clean install with the retail install media downloaded from Microsoft will have a different Product ID from an OEM install of W7/W8 that was subsequently upgraded to Windows 10.

Did you input a license key during the installation? If so, don't. If 10 had already been installed, Windows will identify the device and activate automatically.

Also, as above @NavyLCDR - make sure you've got the right version.
