Acer Aspire 9410 - Is it possible to install w10?

    Hello.

As title says, I have got the feeling this old laptop (xp - Vista) is unable to run w10 x86.

I have been able to install v1809 but it keeps crashing and Device Manger is a mess (lots of duplicated entries with exclamation marks).

Any ideas? Maybe an older w10 version?

Here are some links that you may find useful . . .

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks.

I have installed w7, which works perfectly. After doing a backup I am trying some light Linux distro. I don't like the idea of using w7 (obsolete).

    You are VERY welcome.

I would definately turn off WU's so you don't get the nagging W10 Upgrade prompts etc.

OK. I reinstalled an older w10 version (2017) and got the same issues.
The main issue seems to be Windows is unable to allocate enough resources for components/peripherals as seen on Device Manager. Lots of duplicated entries and errors. Does anybody know if there is a way for Windows installation to detect hardware (aka w7 style) or to force PIC mode instead of ACPI?

While possible 32 bit is probably the best you will get.
Ran into trouble trying to install 64 bit on a Acer aspire one d150. 2 gig memory.
32 bit will run but is slow if you don't have a sd card for readyboost.
However Linux Mint or one of the lite flavors of Linux will work great.

This pc doesn't support x64. Processor is x86 only.

Ok. So it seems it will have to stay with w7.
