Windows To Go is removed in Windows 10, version 2004 and later operating systems (ie) 20H2. The feature does not support feature updates and therefore does not enable you to stay current. It also requires a specific type of USB that is no longer supported by many OEMs.

Is you Windows to Go on a USB hard drive or SSD? Or is it on a USB flash drive? If it is on a USB hard drive or SSD, you can actually create a virtual machine that runs from it and update it that way. You can also run a virtual machine from some USB flash drives, but not all, without having to mess with their drivers.
Hi there -
Yes, there is a good alternative - I have tried it myself.

Wintousb is sadly restricted in free version i.e. it only allows you to create a wtg drive for W10/11 Home. You need the paid version for creating a wtg drive for W0/11 Pro.
You may be able to create one for W10 Home, then upgrade to Pro by entering generic Pro key but I have never tried this.
If you want to create a W10 Pro wtg drive, then Rufus is fine.
