Windows missing driver conundrum

Good afternoon all this is my first post here and I'm quite stuck trying to install Windows. I've long used Linux as my daily driver but I need to run Windows again for work. My old desktop was slowly giving up the ghost so I'm building a computer and trying to install Windows 10 via USB and running into the fairly typical "missing driver" problem. The usual fix of switching usb ports doesn't fix the problem. When I try using the motherboard driver cd, the installer will find AMD-RAID Bottom Device driver but then complain that no new driver was found.

Also tried other advice to use Intel RST drivers, but again the installer will complain that no new driver was found.
As far as I can tell in the UEFI all ssd's and hdd's, and ram are being seen as well as my lan connection to the internet. So I don't know what driver is apparently missing. Also, Linux Mint LDME4 installs without issue and runs well.

I'm not sure what version I have but it was downloaded a couple of days ago from the Microsoft website. This is the file name if that helps - Win10_20H2_English_x64.iso

This is a home built computer and the only Windows it's had installed was 8.0. This current iteration (which I finished building last night) only has Linux Mint on it.

The link doesn't seem to address the issue I'm running into unfortunately.

I wonder if this link will actually give you a Windows 8 ISO/USB that installs, then you could try to incrementally update to Windows 10 from there: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...ad/windows8ISO

If any Windows version works for you, do make a backup: Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

8.1 has the same issue at the same place in the install. And the switching USB port doesn't make any difference either.

There's probably some obvious thing I'm missing, but darned if I can see it

Did install process ask you about allowing Windows/driver updates and maybe prompt you for a WiFi password? Or maybe try with an Ethernet connection attached if that's an option.

I get the select language/keyboard screen, then the Install Now screen. Clicking the Install button brings up the missing driver dialog with a prompt to install a CD or USB with the driver. However, the CD that came with the motherboard doesn't yield any drivers the installer likes; the same with the Intel RST drivers - I point the installer at the drivers (even the ones it pulls up by its own search of the CD) and it complains that no new drivers have been found.

I am connected to Ethernet.

Is your BIOS fairly current? Not sure if that's an issue right now, but something to consider. Also can you possibly download the latest drivers from your PC/mobo manufacturer onto a CD/USB and maybe try to feed that when this driver prompt comes up?

In the UEFI menus the stata mode is set to AHCI and all the drives are shown. The NVMe drive is also picked up in the UEFI menus. Secure boot and fast boot are disabled. No overclocking or other shenanigans have been done.
Security Device Support is enabled - whatever that is, but doesn't seem like it would affect the driver issue.

I don't know what else might be causing an issue BIOS wise.

Open Device Manager and expand all entries.

Look for anything with an icon next to it.

If you find any, right-click on the device(s) and update the driver.
