    Upgrade Win 1903 version

Hello,My windows is still 1903 version.Previously I wrote that I'm thinking to upgrade to 1909 version, downloaded the enablement package file, made some homework and hope to upgrade the system soon.(May I shorten the long name of the file to just "kb4517245-x64.cab")But thinking forward, I have some question: Is there an enablement package to upgrade to 2004 version or do I have to use the 2004 iso file and do "In-place upgrade..". I have the 2004 iso file dated 11-May-2020.I do not want to upgrade to 20H2 yet.Answers and advice will be much appreciated.ThanksMotim

You could upgrade from 1903 to 2004 with an iso file. Currently the 'enablement' packages arrive as the autumn upgrade. This pattern could change of course.

Take due precautions and create a current disk image before upgrading; if you haven't been offered it by Windows Update, there may be a problem.

You would then need to take measures- which I assume you're currently doing- to block 20H2.

The lifecycle end of service for 1903 is 12/8/2020:

An iso can be downloaded to the desktop or a flash drive can be created to perform the in place upgrade:

Hello,Thanks for the answers.I am a little confused about this 2004 upgrade. I'll try to explain:Some time ago downloaded from microsoft the October 202H iso file (just in case..). Checked which build it is,
it is 10.0.19041 508.Now over-viewing updates catalog for 2004 version, there is a KB4571756 Cum. Updt. 7-Sep-2020,which I think, will upraise the system to 19041.508 which is 20H2 version, I do not want. (And from here the builds go higher)
That's my confusion or am I wrong ? Answers will be appreciated.ThanksMotim

From the tutorial section: here's how to check your iso file:
See Full Details about a Windows 10 ISO file or USB

From the News section: This gives you the latest build number for 2004 and 2009 (20H2).
    KB4586781 CU Windows 10 v2004 build 19041.630 and v20H2 19042.630

If you upgrade using a 19041 iso you will get build 2004, and stay on it provided you do not choose to scan for updates. (There would be a risk of upgrading to 20H2 otherwise).

You can update that, staying with 2004, but you then have to be careful you're not upgraded to 20H2.

To do that, use one of the means that is so very frequently mentioned on many posts, and not Windows Update. In particular do not perform a manual check for Windows Update.

Safest would be to block Windows Update and use a 3rd party tool to check and select updates using check boxes.

Hello,Thanks for all the answers. After doing lot of thinking, decided to upgrade to 1909 version. After running sfc scan, making a full image backup, used the enablement package file. It was short and easy. System is at present time 18363.1198.Now I have an extension up to May 2021.Windows update I disabled in the Task Mgr, and in Group policy.
Occasionally will search the catalog for updates, to install manually. Thanks for all the help and guidance.Motim

An experience last week, a client hadn't bothered with updates and had stayed on Version 1803. Due to other issues convinced her to Upgrade, only problem was the dreaded "some files are outdated or missing" message, wouldn't take Version 2004, so I ended up with an Upgrade to Version 1909 after which Version 2004 was available and installed.

    Motim:

If your computer is still using Version 1903 of Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, you should read this:

    https://www.windowslatest.com/2020/1...force-upgrade/

There are several other articles about this which have been posted within the past week.
